Highcliffe Carnival - Saturday 12 December, 2008
The Highcliffe Carnival was originally started by the
Lumination Committee, who decided to involve the local
community for the benefit of Highcliffe Originally the
children of the village received gifts from Father
Christmas, with elderly residents of Greystones also
benefiting with a Christmas party.
Highcliffe celebrated it's centenary
in 1992 with a Christmas
Carnival.
After a long break, it was decided to restart the Carnival, and to use any money raised to support local charities and worthy causes. Since that time the Carnival has evolved and grown, providing not only much needed funds to the various groups that have benefited, but also given much pleasure to the participants, and to the public, with people coming from miles around to join in the fun.
2003 - The Jigsaw Scanner Appeal was the main beneficiary
2004 - First Opportunities (a therapy playgroup for children with special needs) received a donation
2005 - The Highcliffe Junior Choir and Chewton Common Playgroup were supported
2006 - Highcliffe Guides and Highcliffe Scouts received funds
2007 - Rainbows Pre School Group were given much needed money
