Highcliffe Carnival
Saturday 12 December, 2009,
5.45pm
Welcome to Highcliffe. Our famous Christmas Carnival will be bigger and better than ever this year, and will hopefully make more money than ever for local charities. This year's guideline theme is Dickens, but participants can also use their own ideas. The most important thing is to take part.
At 5.45pm, our special guest with get proceedings under way. There will be bands
and music of all kinds, choirs, floats galore, lots of street entertainers,
food stalls, local charities will be having stalls, and there will be childrens'
rides, and tombolas for both adults and children. The streets will be closed to traffic during the
festivities. Many shops and cafes will remain open along
the route, and a good time is guaranteed for the whole
family.
For the first time, there is so much going on
that the entertainment is extending eastwards from Sea Corner.
The procession meets in Beacon Drive, before travelling along Lymington Road, turning into Waterford Road at Sea Corner, left into Stuart Road, and then turning left into Lymington Road again, finally ending at the Globe Inn. Presentations and prizes will then be awarded outside of the Hoburne offices.
The Carnival Organising Committee welcomes members of the
public nominating local charities or good causes. All
future profits will go to such organisations, so suggestions are most
welcome.
